The CIQS BC Chapter is proud to host the “Prompt Payment and Adjudication – What can we learn from the past?” webinar on Thursday, May 20th from 10:00 a.m. 11:30 a.m. (PDT) / 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. (EDT). All construction professionals are encouraged to attend this insightful event featuring industry expert Ali Fard, Partner, HKA Global.

Building Façades are undergoing a revolution of sorts, changes in design, materials, and sustainability. It may not be immediately apparent, but when we collectively review these minor changes occurring in the industry, they are beginning to add up to a more significant part of its cost associated. The Architects of today are looking at the future for new façade designs and materials, and they are finding that they must change how they think, feel and design building façades for the future. True, these changes have come about over time but what has set in motion the complete overhaul of building façade systems was the major fire at the Grenfell tower block in London, England, two years ago?

Ali Fard, partner at HKA GlobalCash flow is the life-blood of the construction projects. The introduction of Prompt Payment legislation aims to facilitate timely payments in order to maintain steady cash flow in construction projects. This objective would however be less likely to be achieved in the absence of a proper enforcement mechanism – Adjudication. In addition to a brief introduction to prompt payment and adjudication, this presentation will primarily consist of an overview of how cultural, legal and procedural differences could affect how adjudication may shape up in various jurisdictions, with a special focus on the UK model v. Ontario. Certain practical issues will also be discussed during the presentation.
